Grandson of Wayne Real Estate Agent Receives Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Scholarship

WAYNE, N.J. – (July 14, 2014) – Michael Semel, the grandson of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Wayne real estate agent William “Bill” Rothenberg, has been awarded the 2014 Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Scholarship following an evaluation of his academic performance and potential, extra-curricular activities, teacher recommendations and an essay. Michael, an Englishtown resident and 2014 graduate of Colts Neck High School, will receive a total of $4,000 toward his education.

Presented annually for over 20 years, the scholarship is available to high school seniors who are related to affiliated sales associates or employees of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New Jersey and Rockland County, New York.

Rothenberg has 25 years' experience as a real estate professional and specializes in serving homebuyers and sellers in Passaic County and beyond. He is a member of the New Jersey Association of Realtors (NJAR) Distinguished Sales Club for having earned the NJAR Circle of Excellence Sales Award for 10 or more years.

“Michael is a highly accomplished young man who is poised to achieve great things,” said Hal Maxwell, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in New Jersey and Rockland County, New York. “I am happy that we can present this annual scholarship opportunity to help support Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage agents with the growing costs of higher education for their families.”

Michael will be attending The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and plans to study political science. After college, he plans to attend law school with the goal of becoming a lawyer. “This scholarship is very important to me because it can provide monetary support that will help me achieve my goals in college,” said Michael.

Michael graduated from Colts Neck High School as an AP Scholar with honors, having attained honor roll for every marking period throughout his high school career. Michael was a member of the high school’s cross country, winter track and spring track teams for all four years and served as captain of all three teams. He also served as vice president of the National Honor Society and was a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and Math National Honor Society. Michael was one of the top students in the regional school district’s highly competitive Law and Public Service Specialized Learning Center.

Active in his community, Michael is a referee for the Manalapan Soccer Club, a basketball referee and scorekeeper for the Manalapan Parks and Recreation Department and a junior camp counselor at Camp Topanemus. He has volunteered for many organizations such as Jersey Cares and the American Red Cross.
