Shomrei Torah's motto is, "Celebrating tradition, embracing the future." An affiliate of  the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the congregation upholds time-honored rituals and philosophies while maintaining a progressive outlook. Men and women contribute equally to congregational life, and interfaith families are welcome. Programs include youth groups, Hebrew school, and men's and women's clubs. Throughout the year, Shomrei Torah hosts parties for the congregation and entertaining events for the general public, such as comedy nights and fashion shows. Shomrei Torah does community outreach as part of the Wayne Interfaith Network, known for its food pantry, and the congregation's own "Mitzvah Corps" makes weekly visits to Emeritus of Wayne, provides transportation for homebound people and hosts dinners for homeless people.
