I see that you're not asking for questions from the peanut gallery.

I sent you mine for the last debate (asking if either candidate lied or embellished or otherwise made promises he knew he couldn't keep and why he did so) and, boy, did that thread disappear quickly. LOL!

Mitt Romney called for taxes on the poor, saying low-income Americans having no income tax liability is "a problem" that will "kill the country."

Having half the country w/ no skin in the game when it comes to the Federal budget & deficit is a massive problem and moral hazard. The lack of any consequences for them financially creates a massive disincentive to vote for fiscally responsible candidates. But not like you care, you just spam the site w/ your useless copy and paste posts.

Low income people have plenty of skin in the game. They pay FICA (social security), Medicare, state income taxes, sales taxes, and a myriad of other fees. The reason low income people pay no FEDERAL INCOME TAXES is because after they take the EXACT SAME EXEMPTIONS AND DEDUCTIONS that YOU take, their income is below the threshhold required for federal income tax. They are not "tax evaders", they just earn to little to have to pay tax. People like you astound me, because it seems you would switch places with a low-income struggling person JUST so you wouldn't have to pay income tax!

Ojo you claim to buy your health insurance as an individual. Every penny of that is tax deductible right off the top, lowering your tax rate. Do you consider that you have no skin in the game?

Bellair, you are a fool. Everyone in this country who actually pays taxes has all sorts of deductions and we all have skin in the game b/c we still end up paying income taxes at the end of the day. Half of us pay so that the other half can complain they aren't getting enough even though they don't put in a dime of their own money and that just isn't fair to the rest of us.

Conjunctivitis, here are some of your 47% with n skin in the game:

According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, some 3,000 of the 76 million taxpayers that were expected to pay no federal income taxes in 2011 were members of Romney's cohort, making nearly $2.2 million per year, which puts them in the top 0.1 percent income bracket.

Another 24,000 taxpayers expected to pay no income taxes last year were in the top 1 percent income bracket, according to the TPC, making between $532,613 and $2.2 million per year.

B@B - Social Security and Medicare have nothing to do w/ the Federal Budget or deficit. Those are on the other side of a budgetary wall. So no, if you don't pay income taxes then you have absolutely no skin in the game when it comes to the Federal Budget or deficit. You have less than no skin in the game if you get any sort of refund or payment in excess of whatever was withheld by your employer for income taxes like w/ respect to the EITC.

Oh, and here is a little history on the budgetary treatment of Social Security if you care to learn a little something. It may not be politically convenient for you though to absorb this little snippet of historical information on Social Security's budgetary treatment.

Stew, the only one thats going to kill this country is obummer the idiot because his whole agenda is about destroying our economy and making us all dependent on the government for a living. Thats why there are more people on food stamps than ever before and thats why many don't want to lose what they have, so they vote for him to keep the goodies coming, they don't have to work then. Its just another way of buying votes as he did when he gave 12 million illegal alien amnesty, all for the votes.

This jerk is dangerous to this country and is out to hurt this country and our economy and he is a traitor and needs to go.

The headline is not true: the TARP funding included money for Wall Street funding of underwater mortgage instruments and other exotic loans rather than reinvestments in corporations - and it was totally a product of the Bush administration, having been passed into law almost a month before the 2008 election. The bailouts funded by the current administration generated interest on top of the reinvestments in industry since the bailouts were paid back in the form of stock buybacks to the federal government, and as the industries stock values improved, more money was returned to the government.

TARP also included a ton of money to bailout the UAW through investments in GM & Chrysler (that were used to fund their pension and healthcare plans) and we will never get fully repaid on that portion of TARP no matter how much in profits TARP makes off the banks.

The headline is true. First, I made no mention of who was responsible for the TARP. While Bush did sign it, it was approved by Congress, which Obama voted for. 50% of the funding was distributed by the Obama administration. That aside, the article is about how the President continues to spin to mislead the public. I know this may not agree with the left's mantra that only the Republicans lie, but let's be honest here folks. Just like the victory lap for 7.8% unemployment, the dismantling of Al-Qaeda...

Obama did not sign the original TARP. He wasn't even in office until almost five months AFTER it was signed by BUSH, And, unless there were some secret special elections, Obama does not vote for Congress. On a good day, he can lobby to get his bills introduced, but what Congress does is what Congress does. TARP also has nothing to do with the UAW pension and healthcare plans except by indirectly keeping GM and Chrysler solvent enough to pay into them - those plans are administered by the employers, not the government. TARP paid into the parent corporations directly in exchange for purchasing stock options and stock, which they have to repurchase back, at a gain for the government. The Bush version of TARP did not have profits mandated in the loan agreement. The ones signed into law by Obama contain a mandate that the Federal loans must be repaid at a minimum of the base Treasury note interest rate or the discounted stock rate and the payments are leveraged at an indexed base rate, so they will never be paid at less than a profit to the government. The original TARP had no such mandate because there was no way to expect the money would be recovered since the notes were so exotic as to have no concrete assets to back them and no real collateral to give them any net worth. Just ask anyone whose 401K was held by AIG or Morgan Stanley.

The US Government specified how the UAW workers, pension plan and retiree health plans were to be treated in the GM & Chrysler bankruptcies as a condition for any further TARP money. Obama dictated the results of that bankruptcy specifically to help the UAW, took sides against all the other creditors and backed the UAW. And note that I am specifically saying he helped out the UAW. If you were a member of a different union or a salaried worked and not part of a union at all, you were as disenfranchised as all the other creditors by the administration. So it is completely incorrect to say TARP has nothing to do w/ the UAW benefit plans or Obama had no hand in how the UAW was treated when the GM & Chrysler transactions were negotiated over at the White House and he was using the threat of not providing any TARP money to help either company to force everyone to agree to the UAW's demands for far better treatment than they were legally entitled to in a traditional bankruptcy.

And you know who's pensions got crushed thanks to Obama and the UAW? All the non-union workers got crushed, crushed by Obama and the UAW.

To my conservative friends on this blog - why bother arguing with a liberal? They hate facts that don't support their idealogy or completely ignore facts as if they don't exist.
You will never change their minds because they are so steeped in idealogy they can't see facts. Their arguments are oh, so boring and the way they spin the facts is laughable. But according to FLOTUS, we're the "knuckleheads."
guess they are okay with all the taxpayer money flushed down the drain for all those idiotic green energy companies. All of them are failing and all of them contributors to Obama's campaign.
I suggest we do all that we can to make sure like-minded people like us get out and vote!
Concentrate on talking to the independents and undecideds.
Talking to liberals is a complete waste of our precious time.

Oh, that's how it works - the only people who love this country are conservatives...

Bull, and the fact is you just proved that you neither understand nor care for this country or the concepts behind it. The Taliban claim to love their country, but just want to control the people in it, and don't care if they destroy them to do it. The founders of this country had the ideal that it would be a place for respect for freedoms, meaning not just respect for your own or the ones you agree with, but the ones you don't believe in as well. Sorry, but it you don't like the idea that you can't control the beliefs of others, tell them how to comport their lives, or tell them they should not express their ideas, I am sure the Taliban would be happy to have you as long as you are male and a true believer and don't ask too many questions...

Funny how the party of the ultra conservatives is such a strong believer in free elections that they are all too willing to make it harder for anyone to vote that does not fit their demographic to the point that the judiciary is having to prevent them from depriving others of the right to vote. Nothng like have the courage of one's convictions while cheating a little on your own side just for insurance sake...

No. Liberals make up their own history to match their inflated belief system. Liberals are just wrong. Simple as that. Have no sense of the Constitution and call it a living document. The ideology of the left is a tangible mental illness. The Liberal has an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration.” This seems in tune with the fact that liberals, along with their degenerate offspring, the Occupy Wall Street movement, believe their policies and platforms fall in the majority. The 99% if you will, despite being outnumbered by conservatives at a 2-1. How about Obamacare as another example. The measure was opposed by likely voters by a wide margin, 54-41 percent. Yet it was still rammed down the collective throats of the American people. Why? Because liberals honestly thought that once the plebeians had a chance to see their ideas, they would go along with it. Proof of this materialized when Nancy Pelosi uttered these famous words: “… We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

Yes I agree. President Obama's plan is so much better. Borrow trillion's from China to give to people who have made a living milking the government of money and free healthcare and food stamps and housing and everything else..... including phones. I'm not talking about hard working individuals that are now out of work. I am talking about millions of welchers who have not and will not work while they breed out of control to more of the same. Thats the real problem. We have to change or the country is doomed.

He hasn't got the brains God gave a 2 year old child, except to know how to destroy this country and then throw Isreal under a bus and leave them out there hanging by themselves. I Netenyahu's own words, " Isreal will not be here in ten years" because he knows obummer along with Iran will see it destroyed, and obummer take over as a dictator of what used to be America.

This country is already doomed by the cultivation of hate masked as religion, prejudice masked as free speech, and a culture of "any means to an end", be it selling guns or lead-tainted toys or poisonous foodstuffs. You can go on and on, like the rich guy who has never actually labored one day of his life about the wastrels who live on government handouts, without ever having a flicker of direct knowledge about the subjects you claim to know. The liberals who fought to get clean drinking water and an end to child labor and a 40 hour working week are beneath your contempt, but that never stops the conservative from going home from the office, turning on the tap, and buying the kids another electronic toy from Walmart made in China. Only when your own ox is gored and you lose your job and understand what it is to be counting pennies to buy a package of ramen noodles may you give a rat's butt about anyone else. You are just another dumb feeder, happy to take the pablum handed to you, your feet on the coffee table with the Bible you neither read nor understand. No one will grow poor underestimating the depth of self-importance in a large part of the public. They'd rather live in apathy and get that black man out of the white house, by any and all means possible, rather than question why so many have so little, and they have even less and less than their parents had. Next time you take a deep drink from that tap, think about those evil liberals that fought to get you the water.
