Fundraiser for Injured Police Officer is Saturday

Dealership hosting special field day to help Officer Bob Franco and other first responders.

Wayne Ford is working to give back to Officer Bob Franco with A Day to Remember: Field Day for Franco; First Responder Appreciation Day.

The event will be held at Wayne Ford from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

Franco, a Wayne police officer, suffered a severe spinal cord injury when a tree fell on the vehicle he was in during superstorm Sandy.

Although he risked death, Franco continues to improve and hopes to be back at work soon.

Wayne Ford will donate $200 to Franco for every vehicle that is sold March 23. The dealership also will donate $5 for every person who attends and signs in at the event.

First responders will receive special pricing on vehicles that day.

There will be a silent auction, basketball games, food and children’s activities at the event.

For more information, visit this website.

The event is the latest in a series of charitable acts residents and members of the law enforcement community have conducted to raise money for Franco and his family.

Wayne UNICO chapter recently gave Franco $1,600 it received from selling Poinsettias. Farms View donated a portion of sales one day last year near Christmas to Franco. A few residents organized a charity marathon not long after the accident.

The New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police presented Franco and his family with a check for $25,000 recently.

I have a great idea EnoughWayne-if you don't want to donate or hear about this officer then stop reading. I agree that their are other people out there to support so maybe you should step up and start a fundraiser for them! I don't know Officer Franco and can't speak for him but I bet that he would rather have NO INJURY then to be home getting paid but having this.
