Thousands of people from Wayne and surrounding towns ate ice cream, petted some furry acquaintances, and found out about local businesses, houses of worship, and non-profit organizations at the 20th annual Wayne Day celebration.

More than 100 vendors filled the athletic fields at Wayne Valley High School Sunday. Kids walked about with balloons, ate ice cream, and played free games and activities set up at many of the booths. Others tried to sink someone at the dunk tank station. Some possible future mountain climbers scaled the rock climbing walls.

Local politican organization distributed literature about their candidates and the Board of Education had information about a new voluntary random drug/alcohol screening initative for young student athletes and the revised Language Arts curriculum it will implement in 2013, just to name some of the information that was made available to people during the event.

Scondo, thanks for the tip o' the hat! But you still haven't stopped by. You really should. You can wear a mask if you want, I won't tell. I have tons of eggs. Help yourself! Already getting some small donations for the Flood Relief Food Bank. And a friend just gave me a great gift of custom egg cartons -- he imprinted them "BURKE'S TURBINE FARMS."

Rob, Why don't you have a booth set up with a jar labeled "Flood Relief Food Bank" And some information about you going GREEN (Garden,Chickens,Solar,Recycle Water). Did I miss anything? Remember to put on the jar the REASON you are doing this is for the FLOOD VICTIMS,for the next time the gates are OPEN!!

Thanks for your comment & suggestion. I won't be at Wayne Day, but I have a poster that is being displayed by the Wayne Environmental Commission table, that says exactly what you suggested, along with photos. We're just getting up & running, and have more work to do to get our communications materials together so folks know what we're doing and why.

FYI, with no materials set up yet, we've already gotten three donations, including a $50 gift from a long time customer who helped herself to the first 6 eggs from today's collection. I have a feeling we'll be generating hundreds of dollars a month, forever, to funnel back into the community for charitable causes.

I'm thinking about maybe setting up a scholarship fund.

The Fourth of July Fireworks sponsored by the PAL was a wonderful event. The Mayor and other politicians would be there and open with speeches and the proper respect for the United States, after all, it is a Fourth of July (Independence Day) celebration. (Press one for English). That was about 20 years ago.. Rumana and Vergogna have yet to speak at the Fourth of July Fireworks, yet they were at Wayne Day spewing their venom. As the song goes: "We wont's get fooled again". Of course, these two have never fought a war so how can they have the same feeling for the United States Constitution that the World War II Veteran found dead after a year in his home, while the Township of Wayne was cutting his lawn (at an exorbitant price back) and selling his house for an unpaid water bill). Go get them Vergognavermon and Rumananites!!!!!
