The water department will begin flushing the township’s water system Sunday.

Flushing of the water mains will take place between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday nights to Friday mornings.

Water may become discolored as a result of the flushing. Water should be allowed to run long enough so any sediment in the lines is removed, including in laundry areas, and it is clear.

The work is expected to last four to six weeks.

Should discoloration continue for more than three hours, residents should call the water division office at 973-694-5090 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
