Volunteer Firefighters Needed (video)
Fire department creates promotional video.
Fire Company No. 1 is looking for volunteers.
Applicants must be residents of Wayne for at least six months, be between 18 and 45 years old, and pass a physical examination and criminal background check. The fire commissioner approves all applicants.
Each company has its own chief who trains firefighters, but all volunteers must also attend the Passaic County Fire Academy for fire training and certification in Firefighter I & II courses (financial aid is available). New members have a one year probationary period. Promotions are earned and elected.
