Governor: New Jerseyans need to help each other.

Governor Chris Christie held a press conference at 4 p.m. Friday regarding what is being done to help state residents during the next few days as the state prepares for Hurricane Irene's arrival.

"New Jerseyans have to help other New Jerseyans," Christie said.

The governor urged people to call their friends and relatives who live in potentially-hazardous areas. He wants people to be proactive. 

"This is serious storm. Get the store," Christie urged. "Get a five-day supply of non-perishable food. Make sure you have can opener to open that food. Be prepared."
