This i ridiculous. And I don't believe a word PSEG says about restore dates. Day 7 and my street is littered with trees poles and power lines. Yet not one PSEG truck has been to our street.

2800 is about 14 % of 19500, which would mean that about 86 % of Wayne customers are powered up . this less than 7 days after the most significant storm in 75 years, not too shabby. Albert , I saw crews on the East side of Packanack Lake all afternoon so they are out there and I hope you are powered up soon.

The problem as I see it is far too many trees far too close to overhead lines that the township is culpable in not mitigating either by citing property owners for encroachment or by not addressing an attractive nusance by sending out city tree crews to minimize risk of falling trees to begin with. Not too shaby scondo unless of course you are without power or shelter as the temp threatens to go below freezing right?

Scondo, think Stewart has been breathing the neighbors generator fumes again !!! In case you haven't noticed Stewart, the lines are smaller and they have two lines. One for cars and another for gas cans so SOME people can run a generator to keep their family and children WARM. A lot of people don't have the luxury of a fireplace.

DUDE, If we listened to Stewart and cut down EVERY tree in town, we would all have power and gas right now. Only problem with that is Stewart would not have any wood for his fireplace.

I do think these trees growing through power lines everwhere one looks are an attractive nusance and that the township is negligent for allowing them to grow that way and maybe even liable for the monetary loses as a result of the power outages. I mean really cities large and small go to great lengths to see to it that treea are at the very least trimmed but not in Wayne it would appear? Let's just see how this matter evolves shall we? Bet the insurance companies who are asked to pay the damages will be right along too.

If you drive along Garside Avenue the powerlines have trees entangled in the wires, hanging over the wires and tree trunks right up to the telephone poles. The tree line should be cut back at least 10 feet from the power lines. Every storm there is wires down along Garside Avenue. If they cut the trees back there would be no problems. Im sure the same problem exist all over town. Just cut the overhanging branches away from the wires. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize this would help 90% of future problems.

I heard that NJ electrical unions turned away assistance from non union power companies in the south. Seems to me that it is more important to have power restored than worry about whether the person restoring the power is a union member or not

Pad, the problem is every year the town goes around and does sidewalk repairs. When they do these repairs, they cut the root system of the trees. Add 70-80 mph winds and don"t have to tell you what is going to happen to those trees. The utility companies did a good job of trimming away from the wires. The just have to stop CUTTING all the roots away.

Whereas the township and the power compnay have all failed to mitigate the problem with homeowners trees encroaching upon the shared resource resulting in wholesale power outages then nothing should be done about it? Is that rigjt? Really?!

I am reading all your comments and feel Wayne as always lacks in addressing community problems. This is nothing new power is always going down. Maybe one of the highest taxed towns should start thinking about underground utilities. I would get a generator but don't feel like standing on line to get gas. I will be investing in a natural gas standby generator. Tired of living like a cave man

We have JCP&L and everyday they change their estimate. My father-in-law has diabetes and gets dyalisis. He is bed and wheelchair bound. He is freezing at night. Our stove and even fireplace require electricity to function. We do not know what to do. A Nor'Easter is coming in the next two days and if JCP&L does not get to us in Wayne yet, we will be without power even after that. I really doubt they'll work in the high wind snow blows.

I live on Medford. And out. Atleast I have family to stay with. But every storm jcpl takes forever. I just spoke with their customer service and they are told nothing. They say the majority should have power back by Wednesday but I don't think 23% is a majority. Major use our tax dollars to get it fixed soon.

Does anyone know if Osborne Terrace is open yet? Does Osborne & Lake Trail East have electric yet?
