Fifth graders at Lafayette Elementary School got a taste of what its like to be sideline reporter Thursday.

Four students asked student leaders from Wayne Valley High School a few questions about their experiences. The Assmebly Program was the first to be held in New Jersey. MSG Varsity sponsored the event.

Microphone in hand, Anjail Ghosh, Jenna Ender, Colin Ramos, and Frank Tortora interviewed Amy DeVoe, Bob Steomack, Bari Nedick, and Luke Primerano. Students from the audience asked questions too.

DeVoe is an officer of the school's National Honor Society chapter. Nedick is captain of the girls' soccer team. Steomack is senior class president. Primerano plays quarterback on the football team.

"I was a little nervous," said Bob Steomack, president of the Student Government Association. "It did feel good to give back though."

Nedick agreed. 

"I appreciated the opportunity to help out the younger students, especially if it turns out that doing this kind of thing is something they love to do," Nedick said.

The event will be highlight on MSG Varsity Thursday at 7 p.m. on the network's High School Sportsdesk program.
