Special Parents Association Hosting IEP Workshop

Specialist will instruct parents how they can identify the essential components of an Individualized Education Program.

 

Parents can learn about Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and ways they can imporve the educational outcomes of their children at a special workshop Jan. 29.

"Parent Involvement in Education: An Overview of the IEP Procress" will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wayne Public Library. The Special Parents Association (SPA) of the Wayne Council of Parent Teacher Organizations is sponsoring the workshop.

The SPA works to educate parents of special education students about their child's education and what they can do to imporve his or her educational experiennce.

Nicole Pratt, a parent group specialist from the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, will speak at the workshop.

Parents will be instructed how to identify the esential compoents of an IEP, how they can help develop and monitor their child's IEP, address concerns about an IEP, and ways they can improve their child's education outcome.

This is not a school sponsored activity.
