School Budget to be Discussed at Upcoming Meetings

Officials, Board of Education will discuss the school district's 2013-14 budget.

Two special public meetings regarding the school district’s annual budget will be held soon.

District officials and the Board of Education will discuss the proposed 2013-14 district budget.

The first will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Wayne Hills High School auditorium. The second will be held at Wayne Valley High School at 7 p.m. March 14.

School taxes have steadily increased in the previous two years.

The average homeowner’s taxes increased $127 last year with a $127.3 million tax levy. The tax levy is the portion of budget funded by local taxes. The increase was less than the state-mandated 2 percent increase cap.

The school portion of the average homeowner’s taxes increased $254 in 2011.
