Local high school bands will showcase their musical talents on stage at the annual Rock Fest on Saturday.
The annual event gives bands a chance to perform on stage and give kids a safe place to hang out without the temptations of alcohol or drugs.
The Wayne Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse sponsors the event.
Hundreds of teenagers attended last year.
Bands will compete for $500.
Rock Fest will be held at the Wayne YMCA; doors open at 7 p.m.

This will be my son and his band Ape98 first time competing. The picture above is their singer Claire Traynor. They rock. Can't wait to hear all the other bands.

Is there a cost for audience to come in, or suggested donation?

Even though my kid is in one of the competing bands, I understand that all of the bands are really talented. Please come out and support a good solid event like this - its a total win-win-win for the kids, for the anti-drug programs and for the township itself. If you haven't been to the YMCA, they have a terrific professional-quality auditorium and stage in a very well-kept facility. Come out on Saturday! You'll have fun, for sure.
