A suicidal Wayne man was charged with possession of heroin after police found him in the restroom of the Monarch Diner, according to a police report.

Officer Jason Philippi found Marwan Obaid, 22, in a bathroom stall in the Monarch Diner on Route 23 South after police received a call that a suspicious man at Kohl’s crossed the highway Thursday shortly before 10:30 p.m., Philippi reported.

Philippi said he saw Obaid holding a glassine envelope with heroin and a hypodermic needle through a crack between the bathroom stall and the door.

Philippi found two empty envelopes in the toilet and a plastic water bottle cap with heroin in it, the report stated.

While being transported to police headquarters, Obaid told Philippi he was suicidal, Philippi reported.

While at headquarters, Obaid told Philippi he was going to “sue everyone in this department” and that he would “take this department down for millions,” the report stated.

Members of the Wayne First Aid Squad transported Obaid to St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital.

In addition to the possession of heroin charge, Obaid was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle, according to Philippi’s report.
