A male and female who have been asking residents if they could retrieve a lost football in their yard have been caught on security footage and wanted for a pair of burglaries on Oxbow Place over the past month, Wayne Police said.

Police have released the video of the two alleged burglars, asking one homeowner on Dec. 3 if they could retrieve a football from the resident's backyard, Wayne Police Capt. James Clarke said.

The resident provided police with a copy of video footage from his security system, Clarke said.

The next-door neighbor of the resident whose home was burglarized Christmas Eve reported that a male and female approached his residence asking if they could go into his backyard to look for a football, Clarke said. That person confirmed the two individuals were the same people from the Dec. 3 incident, Clarke said.

Entry into both homes was made through unlocked rear windows, Clarke said. Jewelry was taken in both burglaries from the master bedrooms, Clarke said.

Anyone with information related to these incidents should call the Wayne Police Detective Bureau at 973-633-3530.
