Man Crashes Car Into Ditch, Charged With DUI
Police report seeing car travel down an embankment before crashing along Route 23 near Mountainview Boulevard.
A Lincoln Park man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after he drove his car down an embankment and drove into a ditch Saturday night, Wayne Police reported.
Officer Vincent Ricciardelli reported seeing a vehicle traveling on Route 23 South come over the Mountainview Boulevard bridge. He reported seeing the vehicle leave the right side of the roadway, travel down an embankment through a heavily wooded area, and come to rest in a ditch along side of Route 23.
Ricciardelli approached the vehicle to see if the driver, Dean Uglow, of Lincoln Park was injured, the report states. Ricciardelli reported finding a syringe lying on the driver’s seat and determined that Uglow was driving under the influence.
Uglow was taken to St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital.
While still at the scene, Ricciardelli reported finding a white, powdery residue lying on the floor behind the driver seat and several cigarette lighters in the center console in the vehicle. A small amount of wine in an open bottle was also found in the front of the vehicle, Ricciardelli reported.
Uglow was charged with possession of a syringe, driving under the influence, careless driving, driving with an expired inspection sticker, and with driving without valid insurance, Ricciardelli reported.
Ricciardelli is scheduled to appear in municipal court Tuesday.
