Keith Primeau, Former NHL Player, to Speak on Concussions
YMCA, Chilton Hospital teaming up for concussion workshop.
Keith Primeau, a former NHL player, and doctors from Chilton Hospital in Pequannock will speak on the dangers of concussions in competitive sports, their symptoms, and methods of treatment at a special workshop, "Concussions and What to Know" this month at the Wayne YMCA.
The workshop will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Dr. Philip Devadan, medical director of Chilton's Pediatric Emergency Department, and Arthur Calise, director of Chilton's Emergency Department, will speak, as will Primeau.
Primeau is the author of "Concussed! Sports-Related Head Injuries: Prevention, Coping, and Real Stories." He suffered at least four concussions during his professional career, the last of which forced him to retire. He has made a concerted effort to educate parents and young athletes about the dangers of concussions.
Pre-registration is required to attend. There will be a book signing after the workshop.
