A fabulous achievement regarding of where they rank all-time. Just as food for thought, I believe the WV girls cross-country teams were at least as accomplished. If memory serves, at least 2 if not 3 of the runners were invited to a prestigious national race in San Diego, and they swept all honors at the conference, county and state level. I think they had something like a 90 meet winning streak from about '84-89 or so. Several of them ran in college and did pretty well. As good as WV football was at that time and WH football has been in recent years, I believe that group of cross-country runners may have been the most accomplished sports team of all time from Wayne.

Lots of important meets left to continue their glorious successes and next year same group minus one will be in place. There is no stopping them from not only beating the county record but winning major upcoming meets making history beyond. Very dedicated, tight-knit, hardworking group. Averaging 19:33 as a team is a remarkable feat. Lets all support our Wayne girls - top 5 in the whole STATE (including ALL groups) WOW..
