Eleven Girl Scouts from Troop 163 were honored at the council meeting Thursday for earning their Silver Awards.

The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout cadet can earn. Projects must center around the community the girls live in and what they can do to increase awareness about a particular issue.

The girls each received a certificate from Mayor Chris Vergano.

"Thank you for setting a standard of excellence to which all Girl Scouts should aspire," Vergano said.

The girls honored were: Kathleen Hopkins, Alyssa Greco, Alissa Paulison, Rose Weiss, Paige LoBue, Gabrielle DelPalma, Vanessa Stanfield, Amanda Sherin, Melanie Grogan, Christie Schweighardt, and Alyson Vergano.
