A group of residents held a pig roast and fishing contest fundraiser at Lionshead Lake Saturday.

The group is trying to beautify and breathe new life into the once-popular hangout spot.

Money taken in from the event will go to beautifying the beach. Residents also want to eliminate the excess algae in the lake so people can swim in it again.

Firefighters from Company No. 3 held a training exercise at the lake recently. They blasted water into the lake in an attempt to kill some of the algae in the water.
