Several Wayne-based bands and musicians took to the stage Saturday to showcase their musical abilities in the first ever Music Mash Up at the Presbyterian Church in Franklin Lakes.

The event was designed to give young local musicians a safe environment to showcase their musical talents. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Wayne Volunteer Organization Active in Disasters

"It was a tremendous success," said Brian Jones, the Wayne resident who organized the event. "These kids have so much talent, but there's no place around here to really show the world just how talented they are."

Among the performers of the night were Wayne residents Jessica Amill and Justin Plunkett, who wrote the song "Scream for You," performed together; Mike Levine, Michael Herman, as well as the bands Scarlet Rush, Someday Soon, and Ideal Drive, all from Wayne.

Jones said he hopes to organize more Mashups later on this year.

"I think we've got something really great going here," Jones said. "We'll see what happens."
