Francesca Russo earned a bronze medal at the Cadet World Championship in Moscow, Russia on Sunday, usfencing.org reported.
Russo is a nationally- and world-ranked fencer who attends Wayne Valley High School. She is ranked No. 1 in the United States in two age categories for her weapon, the Saber. She’s also ranked No. 18 in the world for girls 19 years old and younger. She won her second consecutive state championship earlier this year.
It was the second time Russo competed in the event. Her third-place finish is Russo’s second trip to the podium in an international competition this season. She finished third at the Dourdan Junior World Cup in France in January.
