There is a bakery in Hackensack , B&W which is rumored to have the best crumb cake in NJ and it is a fine bakery, but I mean to tell you they can't hold a candle to the crumb at Packanack. There are Italian Pastry shops and there are German style bakeries, they are not really comparable, each has a different style, but overall I am a Packanack fan for their fruit crumb cakes, their almond coffee cakes.

Scondo - according to your nemesis, you don't have credibility to comment on Wayne's bakeries because you are using an alias on this site.

Daniel, CORRADOS bakes in their own store. Maggi, next time you are in there ask to see the baking area in the back. Better yet you can see the hood right behind the counter where they sell the baked goods. Enjoy!!! Their GOOD!!!

They may bake some of their items, but some are sourced elsewhere. I know this because I tried to order cupcakes there with some customization and it wasn't possible due to the vendor. I don't care who bakes their goods, most everything I have tried there is outstanding...even though I like Gencarelli's best overall.

Then why would the counter person tell me that they don't bake there.

Wayne, I don't think they do all their baking on site , have not been to the other store.

Corrados only bakes a few items on site. Many of their desserts like tiramusu come from Bindi.

@Wayne's my ability to comment on bakeries is not in any way shape or form related to my use of a nom de forum. My ability to comment on bakery product is through my years of experimentation and use of product, as I much suspect is the same for others. I moped the day that Wyckoff Bakery closed and I would forever be denied the delight of their "Chinese Cookies" , But then one day as I rode down Route 46 in Fairfield I saw a bakery, and therein did I find the mystical Chinese Cookies prepared with a generous dollop of chocolate centered into the crumbly vanilla almond body with that delicate flavor that melts on the tongue. Yes, I admit that I have ridden many miles on bicycle and walked even more paying for the privilege of my consumption knowing that a moment on the lips is a week on the hips. And were it to be that Calandra's was on the list , they would have my vote in the Italian bakery section., and I have been to Mike's Pastry in Boston.

Packanack all the way...actually it would be in my own best interest not to endorse the Packanack bakery, they might sell out their incredible , best ever , crumb buns before I get there........and Scondo, yes I have had those Hackensack crumb buns, they are good, but they are not Packanack.

Gencarrelli's is outstanding. The best cakes, bread and desserts. A beautiful store and very courteous help. Bread is now baked on location and often it is still hot from the oven. Its to die for.
